Terms of Service

Welcome to TIL Insights. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the websites, applications, content, and services available at https://tilinsights.com (collectively, the “Platform”). The Platform is operated by The Interesting Lab (“TIL Insights,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Platform — including reading articles, following learning paths, taking quizzes, playing arcade games, registering for events, or participating in our community — you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.

If you use the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and “you” refers to both you and that organization.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required to consent to the processing of personal data in your country, to create an account or use features that require one. By using the Platform, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you are not barred from using the Platform under any applicable law. Some features may carry additional eligibility requirements, which we will make clear where they apply.

3. Accounts & Security

• You may need an account to access certain features. Account sign-in is handled through our authentication provider, and you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us promptly at legal@tilinsights.com if you suspect unauthorized access to or use of your account.
• You may not share your account, impersonate another person, or create an account using someone else's identity.
• We may suspend or disable accounts that are inactive, compromised, fraudulent, or used in violation of these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

We want the Platform to be a constructive, respectful place to learn. You agree to use it lawfully and in good faith.

You may:

• Read, learn from, and share Platform content for your own personal or professional development.
• Participate honestly in quizzes, arcade games, leaderboards, events, and community discussions.
• Contribute thoughtful comments, reactions, and — if accepted as an author — original articles.

You may not:

• Post content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable.
• Cheat, exploit, automate, or manipulate quizzes, arcade games, XP, streaks, or leaderboards, or otherwise gain an unfair advantage.
• Spam, phish, distribute malware, or attempt to defraud or deceive other users.
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-download content except as permitted by our robots directives or with our written consent.
• Reverse engineer, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform, its accounts, servers, or networks.
• Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure, security, or availability.
• Misrepresent your affiliation with TIL Insights or use our name, brand, or certificates in a misleading way.
• Use the Platform to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third party's rights.

5. User Content & License

“User Content” means anything you submit to the Platform, including articles, comments, reactions, quiz responses, profile details, and other contributions. You retain ownership of your User Content. You are solely responsible for it and for ensuring you have the rights to share it.

By submitting User Content, you grant TIL Insights a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, publish, display, and distribute that content on and in connection with the Platform — including in newsletters, in previews, and through our social and discovery channels — for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Platform. This license lasts as long as your content remains on the Platform and for a reasonable period afterward to complete removal and to retain backups.

You may remove your User Content at any time, subject to technical limitations. We may also remove or restrict User Content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, infringes a third party's rights, or otherwise harms the Platform or its users. Removing content does not require us to remove copies retained in routine backups or where retention is required by law.

6. Authors & Contributions

TIL Insights operates an author-application program. Becoming an author is at our discretion, and being accepted does not create an employment, partnership, or agency relationship with The Interesting Lab.

• Authors must submit original work and must have the rights to everything they publish, including code, images, and quoted material.
• Submissions are subject to editorial review for accuracy, clarity, originality, and alignment with our standards before and after publication.
• Authors must disclose conflicts of interest, sponsorships, or material relationships relevant to their content.
• We may edit formatting, request revisions, decline, unpublish, or remove contributions that do not meet our editorial standards or that violate these Terms.
• If you believe content on the Platform infringes your rights, you may submit a takedown request to legal@tilinsights.com, and we will review and respond in good faith.

7. Quizzes, Games, Certificates & Events

The Platform offers interactive learning and engagement features. Please understand how they work:

• Quizzes and learning paths are provided for educational purposes. Results reflect your responses and are not professional, financial, legal, or career advice.
• The arcade, XP, streaks, and leaderboards exist to make learning fun and to encourage engagement. They have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and may be reset, recalculated, or adjusted — including to correct abuse or technical errors.
• Verified certificates confirm your participation in or completion of a specific quiz, course, or event on the Platform. They are not academic degrees, professional licenses, or accreditation, and they do not certify competency beyond the stated scope.
• Live events may have their own schedules, capacity limits, codes of conduct, and registration terms. We may reschedule, modify, or cancel events, and we are not responsible for third-party speakers' statements.

8. Intellectual Property

Except for User Content, the Platform and its contents — including the TIL Insights and The Interesting Lab names, logos, branding, design, illustrations, software, and curated materials — are owned by The Interesting Lab or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property and other laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Platform for its intended purposes.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by a content-specific license we provide. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Third-Party Services & Links

The Platform relies on and may link to third-party services — for example, authentication, hosting, media delivery, analytics, and external resources referenced in articles. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, practices, availability, or terms. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them.

10. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that content is accurate, complete, or current. Educational content is provided for general informational purposes and is not a substitute for professional advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Interesting Lab and its affiliates, officers, employees, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — the Platform. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Platform will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Interesting Lab and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Platform and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — in whole or in part, with or without notice — if you violate these Terms, misuse the Platform, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, the rights granted to you will end, while provisions that by their nature should survive — including content licenses you granted, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Platform.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to The Interesting Lab's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that the courts located in that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform, except where applicable law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
